FIRST NAME: My full first name is Rachael, but I've basically adopted my nickname, Ray, as my first name. :)
I find it suits me better and I like the androgyny of it.
AGE: 24.
LOCATION: I live in a small city in the southeastern part of Connecticut. I hate it.
OCCUPATION: Currently unemployed. Blech
PARTNER: I'm single and I alternate between wanting to fall madly in love with an amazing lady & thinking that love is overrated and that I'll never find anyone to share my life with.
SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Short answer: I identify as queer, and specifically a panromantic demisexual-lesbian.
The long story is that I came out as a lesbian when I was 18 but when I was 21 I fell in love with a guy which really freaked me out because I'd never been in love with a guy before. After that happened I started labelling myself as pansexual. But during the course of being with my ex I realised I'm not sexually attracted to guys, but do find lots of guys hot, and could certainly fall in love with one. With women, however, I visualise myself spending the rest of my life with one, and am sexually, romantically, and aesthetically attracted to them.
KIDS: I have no kids and do not plan on ever having any.
BROTHERS/SISTERS: I have a sister named Hannah, whom I'm rather close with. She's less than 2 years younger than me and we have quite a lot in common. I also have a brother who's a bit over three years younger than me; his name is Austin.
PETS: My mom and step-dad (who I live with) have four cats. I also have one of my own.
3-5 THINGS GOING ON IN MY LIFE RIGHT NOW: Haha well number one is certainly finding a new job. Other things would include planning on going back to school next year, as well as trying to be a more active person and lose some weight. Unfortunately my life is rather boring at this moment. :P
PARENTS: My parents got divorced when I was 12. They have both since remarried (my dad even remarried twice, lol). I live with my mom & step-dad and they've been beyond generous letting me live here still. My dad and step-mom live about 20 minutes away and I see them between once a week and 2x a month, depending on my sibling's & their schedules. My step-mom (the second, lol) is an angel and she spoils my siblings and I every chance she gets. My dad, he's great but we disagree on a lot of things. We have a pretty solid relationship, though there are quite a few things about myself I choose not to tell him (namely my sexual orientation).
OTHER FAMILY: My mom is a bit estranged from her side of the family and my dad's side of the family lives 3000 miles away, so I haven't seen much of/nor am I really close with my extended family. My step-dad's family, however, only live about 35 minutes away, and we're fairly close.
CLOSEST FRIENDS: My closest friend is my long-distance twin & homo life mate (aka ldthlm, an acronym which she coined), Marie. We actually met on lj in like 08, but have only recently become really close friends. She lives in southern Cali, though (and doesn't hesitate to rub it in), so we only hang out online. We met irl once a few years ago and I definitely plan on travelling to San Diego to visit her hopefully soon! Other than Marie, there's my sister, and a few people that I've met throughout my life that I consider friends, however they aren't close friends. I generally don't do ~close friends too well, haha.
TOP FANDOMS/FAVORITE MEDIA:
TV: Castle, Chuck, Community, Criminal Minds, Doctor Who, Firefly, How I Met Your Mother, Lost Girl, New Girl, Shameless (US), & Sherlock
MUSIC: Oh man. My music taste is LITERALLY all over the place. My ipod is on shuffle constantly and it amuses me sometimes how "night and day" some of the songs that play back to back are. I love rock (especially progressive and instrumental) metal (black, gothic, death, doom -- preferably with some melody), trance, drum and bass, downtempo, pop (I really love Demi Lovato and Aly & Aj and I'm not sorry), classical, jazz, and quite honestly, everything. I'm not the *biggest* fan of country or rap, but I do listen to some artists/songs on occasion. I even like christian rock sometimes even though I'm an atheist. Me and music are buds, lol.
BOOKS: I haven't read nearly as many books recently as I should, though some of my all time favourites are Go Ask Alice, Annie On My Mind, Speak, Tweak, Thirteen Reasons Why, The Hunger Games trilogy, The OUtlander Series by Diana Gabaldon (even though I haven't and probably never will finish, lol those books are ridiculously long), and other things I'm surely forgetting.
FILMS: I haven't been big on watching movies lately, either. Some all time favourites (aka ones I could probably recite whilst watching) are Independence Day, Forrest Gump, Imagine Me & You, UP, Wall·E, Finding Nemo, and Rent.
